TWO YEARS AGO I HAD AN IDEA TO LURE PEOPLE TO MY POETRY EVENT WITH SWEETS,
LETS CELEBRATE MS MILLIES SECOND YEAR OF CAKE AND WORDS TOGETHER!
Ok so I kinda do this thing where we get together once a month and read poetry to each other … And eat sweets. It’s pretty dope.
Picture it… your chilling on some couches, gathered in a dim room, incense and To go with that some sweets.
Decadent chilli Brownies options varying from honey pistachio cheesecake to sweet potato pie, orange marmalade cake to cherry pie.
While you’re munching and sipping, oh… oh… what’s… what’s that?
It’s a performance happening right before you… of the spoken type.
An open mic to perform, Support or to just absorb.
Amateurs and the well-seasoned, urban style spoken word and classical sonnets all on the one stage. Comedians, creative story teller and performance pieces all welcome!
Snaps and snacks y’all and you’ve only spent $10?
Every second Saturday of the month we do this, for real … we do.
Held at the amazing Afro Hub we now have the ability to purchase rich African dishes and desserts. Vegan and gluten free options always available in this kitchen.
All open mic’ers are encouraged to read what ever they like, the only rule is that it’s not offensive to others no tolerance form racist, sexist and Xenophobic readings ect.
